Earlier this week, the 18th Art Basel Miami opened at the Miami Beach Convention Center with 269 galleries, offering artwork from blue chip artists from around the world. Drawing visitors in from the beautiful weather, an almost unending selection of paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video, and digital art greeted their eyes (and wallets) as they perused the main fair. Highlights for us included this Austin Lee sculpture (seen above) at the Peres Projects booth and a limited edition &120,000 banana with duct tape at Galerie Perrotin booth from Maurizio Cattelan, his first sculpture created for an art fair in 15 years.
