Previews: Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez – “Year of Atomic Bird” @ KP Projects

Tomorrow night (October 5th) in Los Angeles, KP Projects will be opening a solo show from Johnny Rodriguez (aka KMNDZ) entitled Year of Atomic Bird. For his first showing in the West Hollywood space in three years, the locally-based artist has prepared 40 new paintings including some impressively scaled pieces (see the 60” x 48” Atomic House painting below) that weave a narrative about a society of birds has taken it upon itself to save humanity. Taking his tried an true visual language featuring rusted weaponry, bird and their houses, and ornamentation to the next level, Rodriguez has created an exhibition that is a "response to physical and psychological destructiveness – and a necessary response to negativity."
