Tonight at the Joshua Liner Gallery in New York, Kris Kuksi & Mark Wagner will be opening a joint show entitled Bounty. While both artists take found objects and create assemblages, the materials they use and end results are quite different yet both quite striking. Kuksi arranges elementals model kits, jewelry remnants, and kitsch statuary into architectural frieze like works, complex compositions that reference "historical narratives, biblical subjects, animal worship, architecture, symbolic views on commerce and development, as well as human psychology and behavior.” In contrast, Wagner takes United States currency which he cuts and rearranges into intricate montages that take on subjects like "wealth, power, value, and American identity."
