I found Breck Woolsey’s site, Breckinridge Design, after he left a comment on a previous post of mine- what a serendipitous move on my part! Breck’s artwork is wonderfully bold but subtle as well and I can see it in just about any type of space- from modern to traditional. That is because be combines both a modern sensibility with an strong homage to traditional, hand-painted Chinsese wallpaper designs. He wants his work to be “ambient yet decorative”, and I for one think he has succeeded in that regard. Also an interior designer, Breck has such an such a strong understanding of the role art plays in an interior. Having just apprehensively started my first painting since my senior show in college, I am truly inspired!
His work is sold at Mixture in San Diego, but take a peek at his site for more work (all sold-so sad, some of my favorites!) and his contact information. Works range between $800-$8,000.
