Fall makes me crave tons of outdoor time in more rustic places.  The second the air has that crispness to it I immediately begin wanting to take hikes, make fires, bake things and stock up on sweaters and boots.  It also makes me much more appreciative of country style and the lifestyle that goes along with it.  Perhaps it’s my crazy schedule, but there are moments when my pure adoration for city life wanes a bit and the simplicity and serenity of a life in the country seems more and more appealing!

But not all country style has to be plaid, Shaker style furniture and distressed paint finishes- it can me done in a modern way.  I found this amazing example of such style in the Washington, CT house shown below designed by architect S. Russel Groves:

Speaking of a crazy schedule, I am jetting off to LA today for a couple days but will be blogging from there! Then back to Boston for three days and only to return to the left coast for a week in Napa Valley at The Carneros Inn! Talk about a nice country place to relax!
