I had a reader ask me what I would add to my closet for spring and so I started thinking and came up with five trends that I think are not only hot right now, but lasting as well. Of course, as soon as I started this I came up with about a dozen, but I have to run off to a meeting so five will have to do for now! (Click on the pics for the links)

A shrunken blazer. This season’s cardigan is the shruken blazer. I’m not a big fan of the oversized boyfriend blazer which can look frumpy, but a close fitting little jacket popped on over just about anything looks chic and keeps out night chills.

Neutral gladiator heels. Not for everyone, I know, but there are varying levels of “gladiator-ness” to make everyone a candidate to give them a try. This spring pairing the edgy and tough with the floaty and feminine is a BIG trend, so pop on a pair of studded sandals with a floral dress to look current. Also, nude leather sandals will go with EVERYTHING, so it’s worthwhile to purchase a good pair.

A bright maxi dress can make anyone feel impossibly pretty and feminine. I need to just suck it up and but the vintage Cote D’Azur one in the middle.

Another tunic– with a hint of bohemian chic, they are always my go to with white jeans and tan heels or wedges. Even on your worst “fat” day, you’ll feel good because they are loose but still sleek and cool.

A tough but pretty necklace. I was not into this trend at all until I finally put one of these on and fell in love. These by Gemma Redux mix the toughness of chains with the femininity of stones. I also love the ones by Boston designer Adriana Unarreal, which can be found at Looc Boutique and Stil.
