Two items I’ve bought in the last two weeks happen to both be cream colored tops- one a chunky sweater and the other a sleeker knit. Here’s how I plan to wear them this fall:

I picked up this Gerard Darel sweater just yesterday- what you can’t see here is the one side has a funky metal zipper up the side from the bottom hem to armpit.  It fits PERFECT- long, lean and with a not too wide, not too close to the neck collar line.  I imagine it being INSANE with my favorite skinny leather leggings and heels in a chilly evening out! Pop on a faux fur scarf, some funky jewelry and this so good I might die bag from Tory I think it’s a cozy but sexy look to go out to dinner in.

Fun Fact: The knit of this sweater was based on a cable knit sweater owned by Marilyn Monroe– the designer, Gerard Darel, bought the actual sweater at auction and modeled this after it!

I picked up this very simple slight peplum top from J.Crew and think it’s a nice, simple but feminine option.  I wore it the other night with slightly distressed skinny jeans and a statement necklace.  Here’s a daytime look that’s similar, paired with some sparkly Tory flats, cute leopard calfhair belt and a classic tote with monogram!
