Fashion Week in New York has been in full swing and for those of us not perched runway-side (ahem!) I wanted to gather together not only some of my favorite looks but also illustrate the glaringly obvious trends that we’ll be seeing next spring. Knowing what’s going to be cool next year helps us make purchases now with the confidence that by the spring thaw of 2011 the items we buy will still be cool. Also, with summer sales in full swing, picking up some items now that clearly will be “in” next year is smart as heck (white dresses, hello). I have a crazy day so I have not labeled or linked to which designer is which dress, but hope to later…. all images are on Style.com!
White: White was EVERYWHERE. Every single line has a bountiful amount of simple white dresses, pants, tops- you name it.
Nude/Tan: Keeping it neutral was another huge trend, whether with silks, chiffons, cottons or sequins!
Basic Black: Solid black ruled as well, which is great news since classic black pieces never go out of style!
Over the Top Orange: THE color of spring 2011, orange and all it’s varieties was all the rage on the runways! From pops of it (those killer bow wrap shoes at J.Mendel) to gorgeous gowns. Get ready for it!
Feminine Florals: Garden-like prints were all over the place, even home decor influenced botanical prints at Carolina Herrera! Get ready to be in bloom next spring for sure.
Red and Pink Combo: I have always loved this combination and was thrilled to see all sorts of versions of it on clothing!
Bold and Blue: Cobalt was big this year and blue will still reign next year too, so keep it in your closet! A lot of blue prints specifically were seen strutting down the runway.
Have a happy, fashionable weekend.
