Lucky me, this week I got to send a few interview questions to the design team behind the venerable label Badgley Mishka!  Of course I wanted some inside info on their glamorous gowns, but also about their famously photographed homes! So I asked them a few quick questions, which is a great excuse to post even more glam pictures (especially of that Kentucky home!)

EOS: How did you two get stared designing together?

We met at Parsons while we were both studying there and realized we both had a very similar design aesthetic. After we graduated we went to work for other designers but soon realized that we’d be a great team and that we would rather work for ourselves. That’s how Badgley Mischka was born.

EOS: Your designs are so wearable yet so unbelievably glamorous- clearly you really consider a real woman’s desire and form.  What inspires you to design this way? Any muses in particular?

Our philosophy has always been “one zip and you’re glamorous.” Feeling beautiful in what you wear should not be a chore. We love that when a woman puts on one of our gowns, she is instantly glamorous.

All dresses available through Neiman Marcus

EOS: Since this is an interior design blog, I have to tell you everyone OBSESSSES over your Kentucky home (including me).  Can you tell us about the process of decorating that home?

We loved decorating our Moonstone Farm because it gave us the chance to hunt for great local finds in the Lexington area. Supporting local artists was not only great fun but very important to us.

EOS: Do you still live in that 600 square foot studio in Manhattan? I love how glamorous you made that tiny space feel. Any tips for other people trying to decorate small spaces?

-A lot of people don’t realize when they are looking at an empty small space they have to remember that it will look BIGGER as soon as there is furniture in it.

EOS: What are your favorite items all women should have this fall and winter?

-If a woman is going to invest in one great piece this season it should be a fabulous coat. We feel the “it coat” has become the “it bag.”

Coat available through Neiman Marcus. Amazeballs.
