Fashion Friday: Winter Beauty Essentials

The temps have finally dropped around here and the heat has come on– which means dry winter skin and hair.  But it also means holiday season, which is when you want to look your best.  So Nordstrom asked me to select my winter and holiday beauty favorites from their huge selection of brands and I had so much fun curating this grouping for you.  Because not all your summer products will work in the winter if you live in a place that has dramatic seasonal changes, it’s great to have an arsenal of seasonal favorites- so if you have one- comment!

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleanser– The first time I used this was probably ten years ago.  It’s still the perfect winter face wash because it’s gentle, non-drying but still exfoliates gently. And it smells yummy and has very few ingredients (which I’m learning more about- more on this next week!).

Clarisonic Mia–  The time tested, perfect tool for getting every speck of holiday makeup off and banishing every flake of dry skin.  GREAT with the cleanser above.

Creme de la Mer– Every winter I splurge on the 1oz jar of this insanely moisturizing cream.  It really hydrates my skin thoroughly.

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Serum & Eye Cream–  A world-wide favorite because it works. Imparts a bit of radiance and smooths the skin.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion– Another product I’ve used for decades to kill the rogue spot that pops up.  It seriously works.  Good to have on hand during the stressful holiday season!

Lancome Eye Makeup Remover– The best in the biz hands down. Not greasy and gets even the toughest mascara off.

Dior Star Foundation– My new daily foundation.  Great coverage and “glowy” without making you look like a greasy sunbeam or glitter dusted teenager.  Moisturizing and natural.

YSL Touche Eclat (in a limited edition leopard pen!)- Another decade long love to highlight and brighten under-eye circles.

Tom Ford Blush– Frantic Pink and Flush are amazing colors- finely milled, totally beautiful.

Christian Dior Eye Quad– I have a coupe of these- great selection of colors and fantastic texture.  This dramatic set “Pied De Poule” is fantastic for a dramatic smoky eye with a little color for holiday parties (and Golden Reflection looks killer too!)

Tom Ford Lip Colors- Expensive as anything but the best lipsticks on the market according to almost everyone who knows.  The matte version in Ruby Rush is a bold, classic holiday red and the Lip Shine in Nubile is the most perfect deeper neutral shade to enhance lips for everyday.

Bobbi Brown Smoky Nudes Palette–  A fabulous selection of easy to wear neutrals. PErfect for traveling. Also makes an awesome gift.

Bobbi Brown Travel Brush Kit– All the essentials in travel size (which I happen to like better than full size, I find them easier to handle).  I’ve learned how much good brushes help for a natural looking makeup application.

Dior Nail Glow (fingers) and Chanel polish in Pirate–  I’m so busy with my hands during this season so manicures with color don’t make sense for me.  I’ve said it here before and I’ll say it again, Nail Glow is amazing.  Makes nails look super shiny, helps them grow and stay strong and imparts a tint of pink for a really healthy look. Plus no ships are noticable.  On toes I always do a bright, classic red like this Chanel.

Fresh Seaberry Body Lotion– Love this stuff. So good on super dry winter skin.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo– The BEST smelling shampoo- also feel amazing and tingly on the scalp and gets rid of all the product buildup from multiple holiday events!

Kiehls Olive Fruit Hair Mask–  Heaven for the over-styled, dry and lifeless locks.

Ahava Lavender Dead Sea Salts– I’ve become a HUGE fan of epsom salt baths and this is a little fancier version then the drugstore kind. So relaxing for body and mind.

Sultra Bombshell Curling Iron– I go NO WHERE without this thing. The best ever.
