With the holidays season fast approaching, the time of guttonous purchasing is upon us. So this year, why not buy some gifts that will not only please the recipient, but also help those less fortunate than you? I’ve found some great items that donate a good portion of their proceeds to great organizations around the world. Who knew looking good could feel so good?

These gorgeous papier mache bowls ($90 for set of three) are made in South Africa by HIV positive women as a way to earn an income for themselves and their families. These were feaured in VOGUE Living this month, so you are not only being charitable by buying them but SO swanky.
The Australian Oxfam Shop has tons of gorgeous gifts to purchase in which the profits go to developing disadvantaged communities and supporting fair trade. I am in love with this delicately luminous white vase that looks like it came right from an Elle Decor photo shoot. Also, this embrodered pillow is $6!!!!

The famed Boston jewelery house Shreve, Crump and Low is making a pink version of it’s famous Gurgling Cod pitcher to support breast cancer research at Faulkner Hospital. These are great as a flower vase and such an natty Back Bay favorite!

And for the celebrity loving, U2 crazy, super hip guy or girl in your life, this ONE Campaign t-shirt designed by Bono’s fashion line Edun is a perfect gift. $10 of every purchase goes to the ALAFA (Apparel Lesotho Alliance for Africa) Fund, which provides life-saving AIDS treatment to factory workers and their family members.
Social conciousness is always in style.
