It’s That Time of Year

When I start hearing Christmas carols playing in shops I feel my “Martha Fever” take hold. I feel an urge to tie bows on everything and swag everything in sparkly x-mas frivolity! So to begin my seasonal madness I made a jaunt over to Allandale Farms for some festive greenery for decorating. I love Allandale, and those of you in Boston who have not been there, now is the time to go! Besides fairly priced, locally grown X-mas trees they have SLEWS of wreaths, real garlands and every kind of berry, branch and gold spray painted pine cone your heart could desire. Not to mention exquisitely yummy baked goods, preserves, syrups and the like. Cookies in one hand, wreaths in the other. Perfect!

I got 3 yards of bay leaf garland for $4.99 a yard (fake garlands will set you back $50 for 6 FEET!). I used some small silver florists ornaments on wire to add a little bling to it! I found a gorgeous square fresh boxwood wreath that I adorned with some ribbon and a bunch of pretty branches full of red berries that look quite stunning with my dining chairs!
(To spruce up any old vase just hot glue gun a length of beautiful ribbon around the top or bottom.)

This year I am all about natural, real decorations- no tinsel, no fake berries, no fake anything. And I want to make everything look simple, organic but festive. My brain is churning up ideas right now!
