The South End is quickly becoming the design hub of Boston. Take a stroll along the quaint streets between Columbus and Washington and you’ll find a bounty of sleek and quirky home shops to drool over. From the oft-published Lekker, to Motley Home, Red River, Devi Home and Garage Sale, an afternoon and then some can be spent perusing, and hopefully purchasing, in these boutiques. The newest kid on the block (due to relocation), is Michelle Willey. A classically trained biologist, Michelle followed her passion for decorating and beautiful objects and opened her eponymous shop in 2004. Her new space resides on charming Union Street and is chock full of carefully selected modern but classic pieces for the home. The stunning lamps of Barbara Cosgrove are plentiful, as well as luxurious Matouk bedding, hand woven pillows and understated dinnerware. Michelle clearly is a master of editing her choices down to the best of the best. Lucky for us, she’s made having good taste quite simple.
