More Bargain Finds!

I feel like the captain of the olympic bargain shopping team this week. Really, it takes skill, patience, agility (to sneak around other hungry shoppers and grab the best items) and focus to find such winning things!! Maybe not the best form of aerobic exercise, but I have been known to break a sweat while scouring stores for amazing items.

Just this week I made these scores:

A starburst mirror for above the fireplace. I have drooled over ones by Baker (thousands $$$) and more reasonably, Room Service Home ($300)… but I strolled into Pier 1 this week and TA DA!!!! $45 on sale for this one that is now happily adorning my mantle above! And in silver as opposed to the more commonly found gold, it looks very fresh against the grey slate tiles. As I said, grey and silver are HOT HOT HOT this fall.

Yesterday Andrew and I ventured to Stoughton for a little Sunday worship at my version of church, also known as IKEA. Amen to the Swedish for creating this place. We scored these upholstered bar stools that match our new bar table almost PERFECTLY for $59 each! And they are slipcovered to boot, so grubby fingerprints can be washed right out and then they velcro back on! I am thinking I may dye them a darker color anyways, to spice things up.

Also, we found this amazing floor mirror for $149. It is super heavy (just ask Andrew who had to load it in the car while I “directed”) and looks like it costs 10 times as much! We leaned it against our wall in the foyer to cover the unsightly central air intake vent on the wall. It also makes you look crazy skinny for some reason, probably the tilt of it, so it was well worth the $149 alone for that!
And just so you can see some of the other progress at our home, here are some in construction pics of our new stone patio. Tomorrow the fence goes up and sod is layed down as well as some trees. I can’t wait to put my vintage faux-bamboo dining set and copper fire pit out there and snuggle with Baxter and some wine!
