Bitchin’ Kitchens: Bailey McCarthy’s Top Picks

Up this week on the bitchin’ kitchen series is my pal Bailey McCarthy of Peppermint Bliss. Bailey also owns Biscuit Home, an online shop that sells amazingly cute bedding, art, and home accessories.. if you haven’t checked it out before– DO! And if you’re in the Houston area, you can peep her things at her brick and mortar location.

Here’s a look at Bailey’s picks..

I like kitchens that have a mix of fancy and rustic, that feel homey and special.

Katie Ridder is such a lady. This is a beige kitchen, which normally I would NOT favor, but I find it so classic and sexy. The double height cabinets, lighting, tile backsplash, and ladder- it is all lovely.

Sasha Seymour’s kitchen is a departure for me, much more modern than my usual loves, but I find the ultra sleek cabinets with the wood stove and floors so compelling.

This kitchen by Sharon Mimran is the perfect mix. The leaded glass cabinets, steel doors, farmhouse table and chandelier play so well together. I feel so comfortable with this kitchen.

Friederike Kemp Biggs is not afraid, y’all. He knows things we don’t know, and does things we can’t do. It’s a lot of stuff, but it’s the right stuff. The blue & white pops. off. against all the black, and while this could never be my home, I could hang out here with my friend Friederike Kemp Biggs any day.

I have to be a bit braggadocios, but honest, and I would have to say my kitchen is one of my all-time favorites. The concept came to me as though in a dream- the lacquer green cabinets took about 73 coats and adjustments to get just right, and I loved the island for years before finding the right home for it. The rug was reused from my first house in college, and for me the result is a practical and pretty use of a small space that delights me every time I am in it.
