28 Week Bump Style
My bump is getting larger and larger each day and the summer temps are creeping up and up. I have been living in non-maternity breezy shirts and shorts and dressing up the combo with stacked heels and fun jewelry. I don’t think I have too much longer to wear my favorite non-maternity pieces, so I’m really relishing in it now. The good news is, anyone can get this look – pregnant or not.
Even though both the top and shorts are loose and roomy, paired with boho style accessories, it makes the whole outfit work! I’ve had this blouse for probably about a decade, so I’ve sourced an alternate, but these shorts and shoes are still at Target, so grab them while you can!
And I have a special surprise for you! These pretty tassel earrings? I made them. And I have the DIY coming up for you tomorrow. I know, I can’t wait either.
This is my first week into the third trimester and I’m still feeling really great. I’m still in a lot of my pre-pregnancy clothes, yet I’ve gained around 14 pounds. I honestly feel like all of the weight is in my belly. Some days I feel like I’m just carrying around a 10-pound medicine ball in my shirt. I had been doing prenatal yoga, but just added lap swimming into my routine this week to maintain some endurance and strength throughout these next few months, plus, the weightlessness feels great with this heavy bump!
Last time I updated you guys, I mentioned how I felt pretty disconnected from the pregnancy and that has changed somewhat. It’s hard to ignore with my bump as big as it is and with all the kicking. I still have a hard time really connecting to the baby and I think it might have something to do with non knowing the gender. It’s hard for me to imagine the personality or look of the baby when I don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy!
A few fun (and not so fun) things that happened in the second trimester:
Kicking – It’s not a flutter, it’s straight-up karate kicks. My entire stomach jolts with the intensity of these kicks. They started for me around 17 weeks, but got really intense around 23 weeks.
Pregnancy Pillow – I thought the giant size and price of a pregnancy pillows was ridiculous. I resisted buying one, worried that it wouldn’t do anything that a couple well placed bed pillows couldn’t do. I was wrong. I ended up getting the leachco one and it changed my life. I am a back sleeper by nature, and the curled nature of this pillow allows me to lay back without being flat on my back. Also, before the pillow, my hips hurt every morning, but I’ve slept amazing since getting it. It’s amazing.
Hormones – Geeze, they weren’t kidding. I can feel the tears coming or the anger rising in situation that normally wouldn’t have bothered me. I really try to recognize when I feel overcome with emotion and know that it’s the hormones surging and that it will pass with some deep breaths… or ice cream… whatev.
Swelling – my feet have started to swell just a bit in the evenings. I’m not sure if it is exaggerated by the weather, but I just try to elevate in the evenings.
Melanin Overload – I am a freckly person and tend to have a lot of moles, and during pregnancy, they’ve been out of control. I am growing new moles by the day. That is total TMI, I know… but it’s so strange.
I know a lot of you are going through pregnancies right now as well! I’d love to hear how you’re doing!
Don’t forget about the outfit!
