Before & After Dining Room Lighting with Adorne
Things are getting more and more done around this house! Each little thing that I get to check off my list makes me feel more and more at ease with the very real fact that I could have a baby at any given moment. But let’s not dwell on that. For the past few weeks, we’ve just had wires hanging from our ceiling in the new dining room. The chandelier that I ordered had yet to arrive and I didn’t have the proper switch in the room to dim the lights. We’ve been going pretty high tech with the lighting around here during these renovations because if we have to be replacing electrical boxes, we might as well do it up to 21st century standards, right? That means we’ve been using the Wifi enabled switches from adorne. They’re easy to install (I do it myself) and they have really great plate options. You might remember the beautiful brushed brass plates I used in my kitchen renovation?
For the dining room, the walls are painted a creamy light grey, so I was unsure which plate I’d want to use. I played around with the stainless steel, the Ashen Tan and ended up with a very similar color to my wall color called Greige from adorne’s Beyond Beige collection. If you need a refresher, here was my inspiration collage from a few weeks ago!
No. 1 Tangerine Print by Alexandra Dzh No. 2 Fern Print from My Deer Art shop No. 3 Morocco wall hanging from Nordstrom No. 4 Bahia natural shades from Bali No. 5 Greige wall plate and wi-fi enabled dimmer from adorne by Legrand No. 6 Wishbone Dining Chair from Overstock No. 7 Large Mobile Chandelier by West Elm No. 8 Geometric Modern Hanging Planter by Himmeli No. 9 Dip Dye Table Runner – sold out, so I might try a DIY No. 10 Ekeby Osten shelving from Ikea No. 11 Trestle Farmhouse Table from Joss & Main.
So you can see that #5 and #7 are checked and checked off my list!
Not only was I able to check those two things off the renovation list, but I have been having A LOT of fun playing with the new Wifi lights. I actually set a ‘party’ mode which turns all of the lights (we installed the same dimmers in the entryway and bar) down to 50% and turns on the porch light. So, when dinner guests are on their way, I can just turn the whole ‘Party Setting’ on and everything is set just like I want it.
And take a look at the Chandelier! I was hesitant that it would be too small when I read the dimensions online, but it’s absolutely perfect. I sat in the entryway last night with my phone just dimming the lights and staring at the chandy.
I feel like with the beautiful switches updated and the light fixture up, the big things are done. Oh, wait, we still have shelving to go in… Ok, almost done.
