fall2

The shift from summer into fall is always a little bitter-sweet.  We love summer (right?!) but fall is just so fabulous. You guys know that fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, but I don’t like to jump all in.  Especially this year, because the fall seems to be coming pretty early.

I have several methods for the seasonal transitions, but it always starts with a color scheme.  Some of my favorite summer colors – sea green and rich berry hues – look so beautiful when toned down into a duller version for the cooler weather.

fall color palette

In my fall decor (and fashion!) palette, I’ve dulled down green, pink, and fuchsia and added in some rustic grey and brown.  I love the addition of worn brass (instead of gold) for fall as well. I gathered some of the decor I’ve started to collect for this fall and photoed it all together above.  Doesn’t it work well together?

You can tell this was also the direction I followed for the fall Grandiflora collection! The colors that I worked with Hillary Butler on for this piece is derived from the same summer into fall palette and the worn whitewashed woods I used for this piece mirrors (haha) the same dull grey/brown as we have in our color scheme. When it comes to fashion, I am loving this coat right now which is a great example of using light pink into fall!

Of course, to design into the fall Grandiflora season, I had to come up with my palette almost a year ago (no kidding), so I am happy that these colors are still pretty on-point months later!  That is always a big challenge when it comes to designing into the future!

How do you guys feel about the palette?  Do you have any favorite colors that you’re loving for the summer-fall transition?
