Firework Fringe Party Garland

We’re almost in full party mode over here!  Just one more day of work then it’s off to Nashville for some quality summer vacation time.  We’re heading to Matt’s aunts house for the holiday and I plan to bring with me a little decor for the festivities.

This red, white, and blue party garland turned out even better than I had imagined in my head.  It’s full and fluffy fringe makes it look impressive and although it takes a few steps, they’re all super easy.  You’ve got a few days to prepare, so let’s get to it!

The dye effect on the tissue is easily achieved with a common household item, so after a quick $2 trip to get some tissue, you’ll be well on your way to creating this awesome Forth of July party garland!

Materials:

• Red & Blue tissue paper
• Bleach
• Stapler with staples
• Scissors

ONE cut two sheets of tissue into 3.5″ strips.  I just used the folds on the paper as my width.  This yields eight total strips. TWO accordion fold the two sheets of tissue together. THREE dip just the edge of the folded tissue into bleach.  quickly unfold and hang on a drying rack or line dry.  Repeat steps one through three with two sheets of blue tissue.

FOUR once your strips of tissue are dry, lay together a blue and red piece and staple down the center.  FIVE overlap just the ends of another set of blue and red sheets and staple to together.  Keep doing this to form a long chain.  SIX fold up the long chain of tissue and cut fringes on one side and then the other side. Unfold to reveal the long chain of fringed tissue.
