Fluffy Knit Garland

handknit christmas garland

Eee!  Do you ever have one of those projects that you just love to death?  I made this gorgeous fluffy fingerknit garland this week and adore the way it turned out. I got the idea because I have some yarn ball garland I’d used on my Christmas tree in previous years, but it didn’t match my black and white color scheme… So, I had to think of something else to use.

I thought about making some new yarn ball garland in white, but while staring at the fluffy white yarn on my desk, I remembered my friend Anne’s book knitting without needles and promptly went to the shelf to look up how to fingerknit.

I followed the instructions in the book at voila!  A really beautiful knit garland.  I photographed the process, but after popping onto Anne’s site to link to her book, I noticed that she’d posted a fingerknit tutorial just last week… so she’s the expert and I wanted you guys to get the tutorial straight from the source! See the how-to on Anne’s blog, Flax & Twine right here.  I used the Patons Cobbles yarn from Michaels to get this lofty, roving look.  Your probably going to want to go ahead a buy the full book though after catching the fingerknit bug!  I’m already half done with a pillow in just a day.

Didn’t the garland turn out adorable? I have a good eight yards to deck the halls with this Christmas.

So, tell me… any handmade treasures on your Christmas tree this year?
