Friendsgiving Dessert Drink Bar

I’m still recovering a bit from our big Friendsgiving that was this past weekend!  I always put together an after dinner drink bar for our friends and this year was no different.  We usually get into something game-related after dinner (sometimes it’s ‘Just Dance’ on the Wii and sometimes a rousing game of Cards Against Humanity or Pit), and everyone always welcomes something sweet and warm after a big meal.

I transferred the goodies into fun bottles to give the bar very stylized vibe.  I feel like people love exploring a fun set up and are bound to try new things.  This year, I’ve put out three types of Kahlúa – Original, Pumpkin Spice, and Peppermint Mocha.  They’re the center focus of the whole drink bar, but there is so much variation in all of the mixers we have, there is no way any two people would ever make the same drink.

Aside from the Kahúa, we have other spirits as we’ve included:

  • Whipped Cream Vodka
  • Regular Vodka
  • Bourbon
  • Cinnamon Whiskey
  • Spiced Rum
  • Tequila
  • Irish Cream Liqueur
  • Orange Liqueur

When it comes to mixers, we had:

  • Milk
  • Coffee
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Espresso
  • Cola
  • Soda water

Don’t forget the toppings!  This is my favorite part!

  • cinnamon sticks
  • pirouette cookies
  • marshmallows
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate covered marshmallows
  • peppermint sticks
  • Lemon, Lime, Orange wedges

Although my favorite drink is Hot Chocolate with Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha and a shot of Whipped cream vodka (it’s what I drink apres ski as well) I provided lots of other recipes for folks to try out like the Espresso Martini, The Mind Eraser (sounds perfect for drinking during Cards Against Humanity), the Colorado Bulldog, and the Souder Spanish Cappuccino. What’s a Souder Spanish Cappuccino you ask?  It’s the traditional Friendsgiving drink in our house.  It’s just 1 oz of spiced rum mixed with 1 oz of Kahúa then topped with coffee, milk, a dab of whipped cream and freshly grated nutmeg.

The most fun part was just seeing what people made.  We had some quite creative drinks and some very traditional ones as well.
