Navy Blue Sofa & Comfort Works Custom Slip Cover Review
Navy Blue Sofa & Comfort Works Custom Slip Cover Review
It’s a big day! Although we’re still not ready to reveal the entire living room, I have a pretty big piece of it to share with you. I sneaked a peek of the navy blue cover earlier, but I’ve finally got the entire thing on and styled. It’s a big change, but I love it. Without further wait, here is the navy blue sofa slipcover!
There are two big things that I was apprehensive about. Firstly, the color. You know I was on the fence about white vs. navy. Although I’ve always wanted white, I felt like it was going to be a disaster to clean and I also feel like it was a little boring. My friend and designer, Lacey had loved the idea of a navy blue. Since a cover was a great opportunity to really mix things up without buying a whole new piece, I went for it. If you’ll recall from this post, I found Comfort Works from searching for replacement ikea slipcovers because I originally wanted to buy a new sofa, and then slipcover it… which was a crazy idea. Fast forward to now when I came to my senses and just slipcovered my existing sofa (I was having an internet research black hold moment).
The second piece to the pie was the thought of a slipcover. They’re usually loose and baggy, but these custom sofa covers from Comfort Works are something so much better. I’m unsure that I’d consider them a ‘slip cover’ at all. Really, it’s like custom upholstery.
The custom slipcover fit is very very tight. It proved harder to get on the sofa, but once on, it fit like a glove. I stood back and kind of marveled at the accuracy of the fit. To ensure an even better, upholstered look, I applied a strip of velcro to the underside of the sofa (it came with the cover!) and the wrapped the cover around to tightly fix to the velcro.
The velcro gives the sofa a tight and wrapped hem instead of a skirted bottom like so many other slipcovers have. Of course, you can opt for a skirted edge if desired.
I don’t want to show too much of the room before I’m ready, but you can really see what a huge difference the blue couch makes – especially with the multi-colored rug!
I was super worried about the rug and the cover working together, but I really like how it turned out. I have a few more blue accessories and art to add before we’re finished to really bring it all together, so forgive me for being discreet with my photos!
My indigo obsession isn’t over… I have another DIY coming on Wednesday that you’ll love!
Disclosure: This post was made possible with the help of Comfort Works. They provided me with the cover that I was eyeing in exchange for an exclusive post. Thank you for your continued support of the brands that help keep this blog going! xxErin
