Packing for a Weekend Trip to the Beach
We’re headed out this morning for our little baby moon and the destination is Miami! I’m excited to get to the beach and explore a town that I know very little about. I would love any recommendations you guys may have for places to eat or things to see! Although I’m planning on sticking very closely to the hotel pool and the beach, I am always up for venturing out and seeing something new as well. We’ll be staying in South Beach at The Thompson, a hotel that seems like a lot of fun in and of itself. I’ll come back and give you all the down low on what we ended up doing, but in the meantime, here is what I plan to bring with me.
For the long weekend, especially one with city, sand, and everything in-between, it can be easy to overpack. I am packing fairly light and wearing mostly non-maternity wear. Since you all have really loved my last packing list ( I get emails almost daily about it) I thought I’d offer up my thought process when packing for something simple like a long weekend.
So, here we go! First things first… I typically stick to a color palette. This one is black, white, army green, and indigo. These colors go amazingly well with black or brown accessories, making it all very versatile. I also always look for pieces that can give me many options. I actually built everything around the shorts (#3 below) because I’m absolutely in love with them.
Day one: (as we speak) I am traveling in my comfy black jogger pants with a breezy tank and flat slides. Later tonight, I’ll change into a dress for a little dinner out.
Day two: I plan on spending the majority of my day on the beach with my toes in the sand and my nose in a book. Later on, however, I’ll clean up, but stay with the indigo theme for dinner out in South Beach!
Day three: After a full day in the sun, I’m planning to start my Friday morning with a little walking tour around the area and go in search of some good food! Breakfast is my favorite meal, so hopefully we’ll be able to find somewhere delicious to dine early in the day. Later, we have drinks with some friends and I’ll be wearing the same OTS dress that I wore a few weeks ago in early spring, but this time with summery wedges.
Day four: Another day in the sun will be perfection for our last day in Miami. This time, poolside might be more my speed… anywhere I can get as much relaxing in as possible. Since I already wore the black maxi for dinner, I can reuse it as a cover up! For dinner, let’s keep it casual and a little preppy for a casual beachy seafood meal.
Back on the plane! I’m re-wearing a few of the pieces from earlier in the week for a simple and comfortable plane trip.
Extras – all of these clothes make a few additional outfits which is perfect if something pops up that isn’t quite expected. Plus, sometimes you need something else to wear except for a bathing suit!
It’s quite a lot of outfits for a long weekend, but the stack of clothes barely fills an overnight bag. Everything is breezy and thin, making this the perfect long weekend packing list.
There is a little caveat to this list… on Saturday night, although I supplied a casual outfit for the sake of anyone using this guide, I will actually be wearing something much much different (and not pictured!). We have a black tie wedding that we’re attending in South Beach and I’ll actually be donning an orange floor-length grecian style gown. Of course, if I included that in a ‘things to pack on a beach weekend’ post you guys would laugh. So, there’s the truth!
I promise to take photos throughout the weekend so you can see these outfits in action! Also, please don’t forget to send over your suggestions for where to eat and things to do near South Beach! We won’t have a car, so I can’t wander too far!
