We’ve got something new today! For a couple of years you all have been asking for outfits. After I left my day job working in fashion (and was therefore legally able to write about fashion) I promised to add a few outfits here and there, but never really worked up the courage (I mean, does anyone really care?!) Then, the popularity (and almost daily emails) I receive from the travel outfit post I did, made me feel like maybe it was time to show a little bit of the fashion side of my life. After all, I did work in the corporate fashion industry for 8+ years and still really relish in putting together fun outfits and make a lot of my own clothes and accessories. Whenever I’m sewing something to wear, I think, why don’t I blog about this stuff?
Well, the answer was because this world is chalk full of fashion bloggers and I, my friends, am not one of them. My style is like my home style, simple neutral, and with a slightly boho flair. But, after I stopped posting outfits on Insta, I continue to get questions about why I don’t share them anymore. That combined with the inherent creativity (and DIYing) that goes into my outfits, I thought, why not.
Now, Earnest Home is not a fashion blog, nor will it turn into one… don’t fret… I mean, I work from home and I am typically wearing my ‘uniform’ (which is skinny side-zip jeans, a silk tank, and a cardigan) but on weekends, when going out with friends or just bumming around town, I tend to turn it up a notch and wear some things that I’m excited about trying from a fashion perspective.
I thought that showcasing some of my weekend wear would be fun. So, without further ado, here is the first post of my ‘Weekend Wear’ series!
This past weekend, Matt and I decided to get out of the house and get some breakfast at a really cute little German Bakery we’d always driven by, but never stopped at. I had just pickup up a pair of leather leggings the previous week and was looking for somewhere to wear them that wasn’t in my office with my dog. But, since it was a lazy weekend morning, I wanted to keep the leggings pretty casual and pared down. That meant no heels or other flashy fabrics.
A textured cream sweater and long stone necklace was simple enough, but I wanted to add a teensy bit of modern trend with a pair of cool perforated slip on sneakers that really make the whole outfit relaxed, but current.
This outfit will easily transition into cooler weather with a really worn-in slubby T (I just got this one from Madewell), some layered long necklaces, and the same sneaks. Of course, there are about a bazillion other things to wear with leather leggings, but I think this is a really approachable, but still cool way to wear this trend.
So, after this, I went home, peeled my leggings off, and ate a cream puff.
